The devil‘s web

“The Devil made me do it” how familiar is that saying? How often we utter these words to blame “the devil” for our mischievous deeds, for the monstrosity we portray when we hurt ourselves as well as when we harm others?

The battle between the army of evil and that of good has always existed with the existence of humanity, our duality is the root of every division we endure in our human experience, and we enclose the two worlds in our being, the higher world, which is represented by the divine breath that God blew in us , and the curse of the apple which cost us our paradise and molded us into our biological physical form, the trick is to manage the two natures and keep a certain balance, feed the soul and feed the body as well..

We are pulled by two strings while we stand still in the middle, one thread pulling us beyond our material form, and thereby lifting our souls up above any materialistic limitation, and another thread which pulls us down to our basic animal primitive instincts and animal nature.

Some of us have the will power and the grace to sustain a good balance that if threatened would lose that balance but only for his equilibrium to be tested to become stronger, others cannot win that battle every time for they lack the spiritual strengths and awareness, and thus hit the wall fall down to stand up to another consecutive fall. The course of life happens between those two sides and we move from one side to another, staying more or less at one side more than the other, or simply cross over visit and come back more enlightened and secure of where they stand.

But let us think of the following question: “Who is the “Devil”? Is he an entity? Is he that hideous creature with horns and a fork to roast those who enter his hell gates? Or is he simply the darkness that blinds us and cast us away from the light inside our hearts? Isn’t he our fears, our sins? Wouldn’t be more adequate to call him by his true names? He could be many; he can be our greed, our envy, our cold hearts, our deaf souls and our blinded insight.

The soldiers of evil are working along the hour, never resting, always scheming and planning for an original strategy, a new tactic to use in building up the network of vice by throwing different baits for the various tendencies of every kind so that it would become alluring for human hearts to get caught up in the maze of human corruption.

We all have our demons in the same way we are all, each one of us, his own demon; when we give in to the dark side in us, when we let evil take control over our lives, when we are neutral, when we do not fight back, we become our own demons, we become collapsed monsters.

It is true that we are inferior to angels but we are also superior to the forces of evil. We are not doomed to a life sentence serving the devil’s plan and being his tools and his breath in the lives of others. We have the choice the freedom to accept or reject what is thrown in our path, we may let the birds of evil fly over our heads but it is our duty not to let them build their nest in our minds and reproducing a new generation of wickedness and malice.

We are the devil and the angel of light, in times of crisis who do we summon is what makes the divergence, either we awake the dark side and put it to full effort or we have the poise to call out our angel of morality and get in contact with our compassion and win the fight over ourselves so that we arm ourselves against others.

Anger is the mother of all immorality, anyone who can control and direct his irritation is a full person who can ride the winds of his temper and pilot it to wherever sky or destination he desires. As for those who feed their fury and let themselves go with escalating rage, they will be bidding on their souls by selling it to the devil!

We have the authority to exorcise our demons away from our hearts and we have the same power to make our souls their habitat where they can reside and make us foreigners inside our bodies, and enslaving us in a lifetime of misery and domination where we will lead a conditioned existence that will rob us our spirits and leave us mere phantoms. So let us all have the courage to be brave enough and let us just admit that we are our demons, we have the control and the ability to tame and train ourselves to overcome any wicked spirit, and let us keep in mind that we have the command over ourselves and we were born to conquer and never to submit.
