Nostalgia

The past… the memories of all the people we met and all the places we visited… we are the sum of all the persons who entered our lives and we carry within us all the places we have been to… that yearning for the good old days always comes out to the surface somehow…

Enduring Roses by Holly Cawfield

Our childhood we recall it even in its sad moments… our first love and the longing for that feeling of a first kiss…. Of the eyes and the voice of a lost love … the echoes of a long gone voice of our beloved…it is true that our eyes are placed in a way for us to always look ahead but sometimes looking back is our salvation and the interest of a capital of lots and lots of memories and people we left behind…

Even as we get older we tend to reminisce and evoke past fleeting times to give us that homey sense that arms us against a cruelty of a present … as the days go by the dust gathered from forgotten experiences gets thicker and thicker by the minute because actual moments replace our past experiences and pushes them further away…

Sometimes it is blessing to forget and sometimes it is a curse not to be able to remember wonderful moments that back then did not appear so great ….but the wheel of time awaits nor stops for any man under the sun and no matter how bad we want it to stop or wait it just does not give us that courtesy for there is no reverse button that can take us back to where we once were happy…

A revisited place transports us to the same emotion we lived when we first stepped foot there, the smell and the feel of that place was with us all along no matter how far we got drifted apart from and it is no illusion , it is as real as it was back in the days…

Are we treacherous to the present if we long for the past? Or are we just faithful to what once was our happiness? It is a sure thing that it does no good for any of us to just dwell in the past in a way that we neglect there here and now status, but it never is wrong to just muse over the ancient times for vigor and respect of what got us to the present tense and for what will lead us into the future.

The past is never gone it is there piled under many layers of life events and the course of time passing us by. All we have to do is just close our eyes and go back to a far-flung flash and relive what made life a delightful bliss in our eyes.

It is a positive matter that our memory is selective that way we can always filter our recollection of the past in a manner that we can always go back in time to when we were truly happy and we can always look ahead for better moments in our future or in our present being.

Have a past but do not be your past for what is gone can never come back in the same form and circumstances even if we do the same choices we made once again… when time leaves behind and signs its seal nothing remains the same … but then again who would really want everything to remain the same???
